Since we launched we've also added price history charts for each product. We noticed that the prices of certain products (especially from certain sites) actually fluctuate quite a bit. It was pretty interesting for us to watch so we thought it might be interesting to our users too.

How It Started

@vyolian and @zealoustiger heard from their friends (the female ones mainly) that they often bookmark stuff (mainly clothes) so they can come back and check on the price periodically to see if it had dropped. They thought hey that's something pretty easily solved so they spent the weekend cranking out the first prototype. At the time I had no idea that they we're working on it, we had talked briefly about another idea in that space but not this problem specifically. I show up to our weekly meeting on Monday and they demoed the working prototype they had built that weekend!

We talked over the idea and decided to do some research (surveys on mechanical turk) to see if it was worth pursuing. What I liked about it was that it solved a simple problem and we could get it out quickly (without much investment) to see if it had legs.
